What We Do

Supporting Jewish Life in the Army

The West Point Jewish Chapel Fund supports Jews and Judaism in the United States Army. We are committed to making the Army Jewish community our cadets join upon graduation as vibrant as our Jewish community at West Point.

The Fund, in partnership with the JWB Jewish Chaplains Council, is helping to increase the number of rabbis and cantors who serve as active-duty Army Jewish chaplains by funding scholarships for rabbinical and cantorial students who agree to serve after ordination. Our scholarships help defray the significant cost of a seminary education and relieve the student debt burden that discourages many newly ordained rabbis and cantors from becoming Army chaplains. Our scholarship recipients serve as Army Reserve chaplain candidates while pursuing their studies.

The Fund currently supports two rabbinical scholarships. Both recipients study at the Academy for Jewish Religion (AGR), which is currently training three future Army rabbis.
